The Athlete of the Year Process

New for 2027

  1. Nominations

    • Coaches nominate a male and female senior athlete(s)

  2. Nomination Questionnaire Completion

    • Nominees fill out the nominee questionnaire if they would like to be included in the vote.

  3. The Vote

    • The Athlete of the Year Committee (anonymous) is joined by students and staff to vote on the Athlete of the Year. Student and staff vote is weighted as 1 committee vote.

  4. The Announcement at Senior Goodbye Rally

    • Athlete of the Year Banners are unveiled at the Senior Goodbye Rally effectively announcing the Male and Female Senior Athlete of the Year.

Athlete of the Year Nomination Form

Reminder: The Athlete of the Year is selected from the current senior class. One female and one male athlete are chosen. The goal is to nominate elite athletes who have competed for the school at a high level. Multiple sport athletes will be given preference. Only coaches from the current year can nominate athletes.

Once athletes are nominated they can choose to participate in the process by filling out the nominee questionnaire. These responses will be public, but a synopsis of these answers will be created for the voting form.

The Vote

In the past we have had a committee of 5 vote for the Athlete of the Year. Starting in 2027 we will have a similar process, but we are going to expand out adding a student vote and a staff vote (the results of those votes will be weighted as 1 vote on the committee). We keep committee members anonymous to avoid athletes lobbying the committee but now students and teachers will have impact on the Athlete of the Year vote as well.
