Sophie Dhillon Named Bay Area News Group Girls Athlete of the Week

Fremont High School freshman Sophie Dhillon has been named the Bay Area News Group Girls Athlete of the Week, earning recognition from the Mercury News and East Bay Times for her outstanding performance with Fremont Field Hockey.

Dhillon was nominated after a huge performance in Fremont’s 8-0 victory over Lynbrook, scoring three goals and adding two assists to help the Firebirds improve to 5-1. At the time of her nomination, she led Fremont with six goals on the season.

The recognition is an impressive accomplishment for Dhillon, especially this early in her freshman season, and continues a strong start for the Fremont Field Hockey program.

Dhillon has quickly established herself as an important part of the Firebirds’ attack. Her performance against Lynbrook helped earn her a spot among the Bay Area’s top high school athletes before voters selected her as the week’s winner.
